Our Story
Za Luisetta e lu mare belle
My grandfather used to go to the majelletta area together with some people from his village for holidays. one Sunday, with his van he brought also za Luisetta (aunt luisetta), the baker of the village. She was the only one who owned a sort of oven, so all the people used to visit her to cook their bread. She was a very well-known person also because she was saying “prayers”, in tradition and in popular language, she practiced rites and formulas against the evil eye or to relieve some pains. The magpie, symbol of Marabelle wine, it is dedicated to her who always had a bread crumb for the magpie that always knocked at her window. When aunt Luisetta arrived for the first time at Mammarosa mountain, in front of such a magnificent landscape, at that breath taking view she could not hold back the emotion, and she exclaimed: How much world is spread at the feet of this mountain… AND IMMEDIATELY AFTER, AS SOON AS SHE SPOTTED THE SEA, SHE SAID: And what a beautiful sea!
